Entoloma incanum
Entoloma incanum can exhibit spectacular green and yellow coloration. Cap color will vary with age and environmental conditions.
Cap loses green coloration and will eventually become brownish. Gills are attached to the stem, distant; white when young, becoming pinkish. Pink spore print. Said to smell like mice; I say they stink.
Gregarious habit. Found growing by the hundreds along both sides of a trail. McCormick's Creek State Park, Trail 4; September.
Base of stem and gills bruised blue; stem, blue-green. Images show true color (I swear!).
Typical angular Entoloma spores measure 7-12 x 5-8 µ.
