MDCP Record for 04220304 Collection Date: April 22, 2003 County or City: Coles Collector's Notes: Amid unidentified saplings at the bottom of a hill in white oak woods, 10 feet above a creek in a level area. One large ash tree within 20 feet, one large sycamore within 15 feet. The spot covers about10 x 20 feet, and has produced black morels in earlier years on at least three different occasions, dating back to 1998. Soil temperature 51.9 degrees; pH 6.8. Pointy black morels; classic M. angusticeps.
