False Morel Project Record for 05090605 Collection Date: May 09, 2006 County or City: Emmet Collector's Notes: Growing from submerged, very rotted wood at the base of a mature ash tree. Apothecium 5 cm across; with a pseudostem. Hymenium repand, almost cushion-shaped; wrinkled vaguely radially; finely lumpy-wrinkled; reddish brown, nearly blackish in some places. Excipular surface creamy white to pale brownish; somewhat brownish on handling. Pseudostipe 1.5 X 1 cm; continuous with excipular surface. Context whitish; unchanging. Spores in a water mount 30-32 X 11 µ excluding apiculi; elliptical to subfusoid; multiguttulate; with long, pointed apiculi 3-4 µ long and 3-4 µ wide at base. Paraphyses in KOH mount with orange-brown, granular contents; up to 9.5 µ wide; subclavate to capitate. Spores in KOH mount appearing mostly uniguttulate.
