Guravich. "In bottomland hardwoods near Greenville." Exssiccatum is one ascocarp, sliced lengthwise, 8 cm high. Cap 5.5 cm wide and 4 cm high. Stipe 3 cm wide at midsection. Hymenium with blackish brown ridges and brown to orange brown "pits"; stipe now creamy tan, along with context. Stem appears proportionally thick; cap tightly adnate with excipular surface not exposed. Paraphyses hyaline or with reddish brown granulated content (water mount); cylindric to subclavate or subcapitate; 5-7.5 µ wide; often bundled. Asci up to 250 x 25 µ; hyaline; 8-spored. Spores long-elliptic; hyaline; with two to several apical projections up to 1 µ high, or "crowned" with apical projections, or "sheathed" nearly overall; primarily uniguttulate. Stipitipellis of intertwined hyaline elements, mostly erect; terminal elements cylindric with rounded apices, smooth, hyaline, 6-8 µ wide. 40 spores measured: (25-) 27.5-30 (-32) X (10-) 11.5-13.5 (-15); average length 28.5 µ; average width 12.34 µ; Q = 2.31.
