False Morel Project Record for 09165401 Collection Date: September 16, 2054 County or City: Pierce Collector's Notes: A. H. Smith collection 47641, from Longmire; now ILLS 44313. Exsiccatum is a single ascocarp, well preserved. Stipe and excipular surface are now orangish cream; hymenium medium brown with hints of reddish tones. Substrate adhering to stipe base appears partially composed of wood. No notes or documentation in collection box. Apothecium measures about 12 X 6 cm; stipe about 6 X 3 cm. Asci about 140-200 X 12-17 µ; 8-spored; hyaline in KOH. Paraphyses with faintly orangish content; about 140-190 X 7 µ; subclavate, subcapitate, or occasionally irregular. Spores broadly elliptical (not sub/fusoid); 16-20 X 9.5-11 µ; smooth; with fairly homogeneous contents or with a few tiny, scattered oil droplets; walls about 1 µ thick; hyaline in KOH.
