Class on Myxomycetes

July 25 through July 31, 2004

Steve Stephenson taught a one-week class (July 25 to July 31 of 2004) at the Humboldt Field Research Institute near Steuben, Maine. The class (entitled “Introduction to the Myxomycetes”) had 10 participants, who were introduced to just what is involved in first collecting, then studying and ultimately developing an understanding of the biology, taxonomy, ecology and global distribution patterns of myxomycetes.

July 23 through July 29, 2006

Steve Stephenson returned to the Humboldt Field Research Institute again during the summer of 2006 to teach another one-week class on myxomycetes. The class (entitled “Taxonomy and Ecology of Myxomycetes”) had nine participants, who learned how to collect, identify and study various aspects of the ecology of these organisms. In addition to teaching the class, Stephenson carried out the first surveys for all three groups of eumycetozoans in nearby Acadia National Park .
