Dr. John Landolt received his BA degree in Biology from Austin College ( Sherman , Texas ) and his PhD in Zoology from the University of Oklahoma. In addition to teaching, he serves as an academic advisor to many biology majors at Shepherd University who are interested in continuing their education in health-related professions such as Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine. Landolt is interested in the biology of slime molds, particularly the cellular slime molds or dictyostelids, and is involved with a ongoing project to discover the variety, the distribution and occurrence of cellular slime molds worldwide. To this end, he has studied dictyostelids from many places in the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, as well as Canada, the Bahamas, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Peru, Brazil, Guyana and Ecuador in the new world and from the Russian Far East, Thailand, Guam, Tahiti, New Zealand and subantarctic Macquarie Island in Asia and the Pacific.
