Myxomycete Workshops in Central America

June 16-17 and June 21-22 2006

  Two introductory workshops on the basic morphology, ecology and taxonomy of myxomycetes were taught by Carlos Rojas during the summer of 2006 in Honduras (June 16-17) and Guatemala (June 21-22). These events were hosted by professor Elia Sarmiento at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and professor Osberth Morales at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala in Guatemala City. There were more than 60 participants involved in the workshops, including students, faculty members and field technicians from Mexico , Guatemala , El Salvador , Honduras and Costa Rica . As part of the workshops, field trips to La Tigra National Park in Honduras and the Astillero Regional Park of Tecpán in Guatemala were carried out.
